Pasadena Therapist for OCD, Anxiety & Trauma
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist | Private-Pay Therapy for Teens, Adults & Couples | In-Person in Pasadena and Los Angeles |
Online Throughout California
Hi! I'm Matt Herrera.
I am a therapist who helps people explore their internal landscapes shaped by anxiety, trauma, and relationships. Anxiety, trauma, and our hardest relationships shape us more than we often realize — and none of it has to be faced alone.
I help people throughout Pasadena, Los Angeles, and Southern California move past OCD, anxiety, and trauma — including the anxiety, attachment wounds, and relational trauma that often show up in dating and relationships — using evidence-based, body-aware approaches: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and Brainspotting for trauma and deeper emotional processing. I also offer secure telehealth sessions for clients anywhere in California, from the Bay Area to San Diego.
I also work with creatives and entertainment professionals navigating high-visibility careers, veterans and military families, and high-functioning adults — including many men — ready to understand themselves more clearly. For couples, I draw on the Gottman Method to rebuild communication and trust.

How I Help
My approach is active, collaborative, and tailored to your specific needs. I integrate evidence-based and experiential therapies to help you move beyond patterns that keep you stuck. I am informed in the following modalities:
ERP for OCD and Anxiety
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is one of the most effective treatments for OCD and anxiety. We work together to reduce avoidance and build confidence in facing fears.
Brainspotting for Trauma
Brainspotting helps access and process deeper emotional experiences — including relational and attachment trauma — that may feel stuck, allowing for meaningful healing and change.
Gottman Method for Couples
For couples, I use the Gottman Method to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen connection.
Sex and Intimacy Therapy
I support individuals and couples navigating concerns related to sex, intimacy, desire, performance anxiety, emotional connection, communication, and boundaries.
Therapy for Creatives and Entertainment Professionals
Creative careers can be deeply meaningful, but they can also bring unique stressors: rejection, inconsistent work, creative blocks, public visibility, burnout, perfectionism, and pressure to continually perform.
I work with actors, writers, musicians, directors, producers, studio executives, designers, editors, crew members, and other entertainment professionals who want a confidential space to better understand themselves, manage stress, protect their creativity, and build a more grounded life.
Therapy with me is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and rooted in curiosity and care. I offer in-person therapy in Pasadena, California, and provide telehealth therapy for clients throughout the state of California.
